Capitol Groove Festival: A Celebration of Music and Community
The Capitol Groove Festival, held in Hartford, Connecticut on June 28 and 29, showcased a diverse lineup of artists, including Khruangbin, Cake, and Bleachers. This two-day event, now in its second year, took place in the picturesque Bushnell Park and aimed to foster a sense of community through music. Hartford's mayor, Arunan Arulampalam, expressed his vision of transforming the city into the music capital of the Northeast.
The festival opened with lively performances from Ghost Funk Orchestra and Improvement Movement, followed by Too Many Zooz, who captivated the audience with their improvisational brass sounds. Steel Pulse delivered a spirited reggae set, addressing themes of peace and unity. Thee Sacred Souls engaged fans with heartfelt interactions, while Thundercat infused humor into his dynamic performance.
Day two began with Spectre Jones, continuing the high-energy vibe. The Greeting Committee and Fantastic Negrito kept the crowd energized, leading to powerful performances by St. Paul & The Broken Bones and Sammy Rae & The Friends. Cake and Bleachers closed the festival with nostalgic and electrifying shows, creating unforgettable memories for attendees.
